Reflections One Year Later - February 2021

“Something I haven’t thought of in years. KMPC Radio was the top rated radio station in Los Angeles, CA for a few decades (1950’s - 1960’s before “Rock & Roll”) and Johnny Grant was the most popular/listened to DJ on the station. In the early 1960’s, as honorary Mayor of Hollywood, he was on the original committee that created the “Hollywood Walk of Fame”. During that early period of time, The Lettermen had many easy listening hits. Of these hits, I’m sure Johnny had a great deal to do with their success in the Los Angeles market. It’s wonderful how life sometimes brings connections full circle.” ~ Tony Butala

“Our “Star Day” 2020 was a perfect day in every way imaginable. The birds were singing, the sun was shining. The only thing brighter than the sun was the gleam in Tony’s eyes. It was a day he had looked forward to for a long time. You could actually feel the presence of the late Bob Engemann and Jim Pike who was represented by his brothers, Gary and Donny. Many Lettermen alumni were in attendance, as well as present day members, who all shared the gravity of the honor that was being bestowed on The Lettermen for a career that had spanned six decades. Every man there, who had ever donned a letter sweater, will never forget that special day and all the wonderful and dedicated fans who made it possible.” ~ Donovan Tea

"One year ago we were riding the crest of the excitement of finally receiving a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I was proud then and I'm proud now to be a part of this historic group. We will be back, the music will survive and we will be better than ever! I can't wait for the day I can applaud the audience for taking the time to come and be a part of the continuing legacy of this legendary group.” ~ Bobby Poynton

“Not in my wildest dreams did I think that this last year would go the way it has. But if I've learned one thing during this pandemic, it is to be grateful for the many blessings I have in my life. Being a part of the Lettermen family and receiving a Star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame are just a few of those blessings. I'm ready to get back and create more moments with The Lettermen.” ~ Rob Gulack
